About this qualification

This qualification develops knowledge and applied understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7, with practice focused on the early years from birth to 5. It meets the Department for Education's Level 2 full and relevant criteria.

Assessment
All 14 units are internally assessed. Knowledge and skills may be assessed through tasks and direct workplace observation.

Entry requirements

Learners must be aged 16 or over. NCFE sets no other entry requirements, although providers may apply their own guidance.

Placement requirements

A real work environment is required. NCFE recommends 250 placement hours with opportunities to work with babies and young children.
